Who We Are
Hope Church Leith exists to share the greatest news ever told: that Jesus Christ lived, died and rose again to give people real hope and lasting joy. We are a church made up of people who have this hope, and we want the people of Leith to have it too.
We love where we are here in Leith. While we meet together on Sundays and Tuesdays, much of our time is spent living and working alongside people in the community. We come together to worship God, and we go out as colleagues, neighbours, and friends to the people around us.
HCL is part of a wider network of churches known as the Free Church of Scotland. We’re excited to be part of its vision to see a healthy Gospel church in every community.
What We Believe:
We believe that every person is created and loved by God, and has ultimate value. And yet, tragically, the story of all our lives is marked by brokenness, pain, and uncertainty - the result of turning away from God and his love.
Even so, we believe God’s love is so great that he offers us a life no longer defined by the hurt that we face or the hurt that we cause.
The good news - the “gospel” - is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived, died and rose again to give us life as it was meant to be. Providing forgiveness and the way back to God, Jesus came to save the least, the last and the lost.
We believe that the Bible reveals who God is and who we are. We are all the least, the last and the lost, but the Bible tells us that God offers a life we could never earn, and gives his Spirit, who enables and strengthens all who trust in him to live life the way God designed.
